Dhaka (HRNW) – Barrister Ahmed Bin Qasim Arman, the successful Jamaat-e-Islami candidate from a Dhaka constituency, visited the home of his rival BNP candidate Sanjeed Akhtar, where emotional scenes unfolded.
Ahmed Bin Qasim’s father, Mir Qasim Ali, a central Jamaat-e-Islami leader, was executed in 2016 during Hasina Wajid’s rule. Ahmed himself was kidnapped and kept missing for eight years before being released after Hasina Wajid’s overthrow.
Sanjeed Akhtar’s mother, Hazira Khatoon, had launched the “Mayer Dak” (Voice of Mother) movement to demand the return of political workers who disappeared under Hasina Wajid’s regime. Her struggle continues as her own son remains missing since 2013, and her daughter, who ran in his place for BNP, lost to Ahmed Bin Qasim.
Understanding the pain of losing loved ones to political violence, Ahmed Bin Qasim immediately visited Hazira Khatoon to pay his respects for her relentless advocacy on behalf of missing persons.
