Mecca & Medina (HRNW) – Preparations for welcoming the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH are in full swing across Saudi Arabia, with government and community efforts ensuring a dignified and spiritual environment for worshippers.
Saudi media reports that streets, highways, and public spaces are adorned with electric lights, colorful lanterns, and banners reading “Ahla wa Sahla” to welcome the month. Billboards featuring verses from the Holy Quran and blessed Hadiths have also been installed to inspire devotion.
Special programs and events are being organized to encourage good deeds and spiritual growth during Ramadan, including large Iftar gatherings to break the fast in community. Mecca and Medina are witnessing the most spectacular displays, with streets and key areas illuminated to welcome pilgrims.
Muslims from around the world are expected to visit Mecca and Medina to perform Umrah and worship. Last Friday of Shaban saw over 1.5 million pilgrims at the Grand Mosque, signaling a potential increase in numbers during Ramadan. Authorities are preparing for a high influx of pilgrims, especially in the last ten days of the month.
The holy month is expected to begin on February 19, pending the official moon sighting announcement.
