Dhaka (HRNW) – Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami has announced its commitment to acting as a responsible opposition after the 13th national parliamentary elections.
According to Dhaka Tribune, Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh Dr. Shafiqur Rahman stated on social media that the party accepts the overall election results and respects the rule of law. He emphasized that Jamaat-e-Islami is dedicated to a stable and effective democratic system and will uphold this stance moving forward.
Dr. Rahman thanked the party’s volunteers and supporters, noting that the party’s victory in 77 seats nearly quadrupled its parliamentary presence, strengthening its position as an opposition force. He highlighted that democratic politics is a long-term journey focused on earning public trust, ensuring accountability, and preparing responsibly for the future.
He further added that the true test of leadership is not only participating in elections but also respecting the people’s decision. Jamaat-e-Islami aims to strengthen democracy, protect citizen rights, and build an accountable state, committing to work for national development as a principled and peaceful opposition.
