New Delhi (HRNW) A New Delhi court has convicted Hurriyat leader Asiya Andrabi in what observers describe as a politically motivated case. According to the Kashmir Media Cell (KMC), the court also found Hurriyat leaders Fahmida Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen guilty.
The case was heard in the notorious Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) court, where Kashmiri freedom activists were detained under false charges. Sentencing is scheduled for January 17.
KMC reported that Asiya Andrabi was arrested in April 2018 in connection with the political case. Her husband, Ashiq Hussain, has been imprisoned in India for three decades on fabricated charges.
The Kashmir Media Cell has condemned the verdict as a violation of political and human rights and has called on the international community to intervene and ensure justice for the detained Kashmiri leaders.
