Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei has warned Saudi Arabia, Jordan and Japan that supporting an anti-Iran resolution would carry a “high cost” for those countries.
Speaking to state television, Baghaei stressed the need for direct dialogue between Iran and the Gulf nations, saying regional issues should be resolved through mutual discussions without external interference. He described bringing the countries to the negotiating table as a significant diplomatic achievement.
Baghaei said the current situation should neither be viewed as peace nor conventional war, but as an active state of conflict. He maintained that maritime sanctions and blockades would amount to acts of war, warning that any Iranian countermeasures would therefore be considered acts of self-defense.
The Iranian spokesman also claimed that Tehran maintains full control over the Strait of Hormuz and held the United States solely responsible for the rise in global fuel prices.
Baghaei warned that countries taking action against Iran would have to face the consequences, adding that the space for restraint is rapidly narrowing amid the prevailing tensions.
