Iran Warns US Warships Against Approaching Strait of Hormuz

Tehran, Iran (HRNW)- A senior official from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy has warned US warships against approaching the Strait of Hormuz, saying Iranian forces would respond if American vessels moved toward the strategic waterway.

According to Iranian news agency Fars, the deputy political commander of the IRGC Navy challenged US President Donald Trump’s claim that the United States controls the Strait of Hormuz.

The Iranian official said that if the waterway is truly under US control, Washington should demonstrate this by bringing one of its warships within 100 kilometers of the strait.

He further claimed that US forces are aware that any naval vessel approaching the Strait of Hormuz would face a response from Iranian forces, adding that similar incidents have reportedly occurred in recent days.

The official said Iran maintains a defensive posture regarding the strategically important waterway, which is a major route for the global transportation of oil and natural gas.

Amid continuing tensions between Iran and the United States, security around the Strait of Hormuz and maritime traffic passing through the area remains under close international scrutiny.
