Karachi (HRNW) — A major initiative has been launched to improve water supply in Karachi, with the Karachi Water and Sewerage Corporation (KW&SC) and the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) signing an agreement for the construction of the Damlottee Pipeline.
According to Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab, the project will provide an additional 10 million gallons of water per day from Damlottee to Defence and Clifton once completed, helping reduce water shortages in the two areas.
Wahab said construction of the Damlottee Pipeline project is expected to begin next week, with a target of completing the project within 12 months. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs14 billion.
The mayor described the additional water supply as an important step toward addressing Karachi’s water shortage and thanked the Sindh government for its cooperation and support for the project.
The agreement-signing ceremony was attended by senior FWO and KW&SC officials, including FWO Head Brigadier Adnan Akhtar Ali, Station Commander Brigadier Imran Asghar, Administrative DHA Brigadier Amir Nawaz Khan, Local Government Secretary Dr. Waseem Shamshad, MNA Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, PPP leader Syed Najmi Alam, Karachi Mayor’s spokesperson Karamullah Waqasi, KW&SC CEO Ahmed Ali Siddiqui and COO Engineer Asadullah Khan, among others.

If completed on time and according to the announced targets, the Damlottee Pipeline project could improve access to water for residents of Defence and Clifton.
