Karachi (HRNW) The Consumer Protection Court South Karachi has ordered Pakistan Railways to pay Rs. 50,000 in compensation to a citizen over the significant delay of the Khyber Mail train.
The petitioner told the court that he had booked a ticket for the Khyber Mail from Ghotki to Karachi in 2025.
According to the petition, the train was scheduled to depart from Ghotki at 6:40 p.m., but actually left at 10:11 p.m. The delay resulted in the train reaching Karachi at 10:45 a.m. instead of the scheduled arrival time of 6:40 a.m.
The petitioner argued that the prolonged delay caused him considerable inconvenience and loss and sought compensation from Pakistan Railways.
After hearing the case, the Consumer Protection Court directed Pakistan Railways to pay Rs. 50,000 as compensation to the citizen.
The decision highlights the importance of passenger rights and the responsibility of public service providers to ensure timely and reliable services.
