Hyderabad (HRNW) — The 1st Civil Judge & Judicial Magistrate/Model Trial Magistrate Court, Hyderabad, has taken serious notice of the alleged discourteous and contemptuous conduct of a lawyer and referred the matter to the Sindh Bar Council for appropriate action.
According to the court order, Talal Ahmed Jumani, Advocate, appeared before the court on July 22, 2026, after necessary process had been issued due to his repeated absence in a criminal case.
The court took exception to the lawyer’s alleged conduct and directed him to stand in the accused dock and, as a disciplinary measure, remove his lawyer’s coat.
According to the court order, the lawyer allegedly refused to comply with the direction, stating:
“Do whatever you want; I will not remove my coat and will remain like this.”
The court observed that the lawyer’s alleged conduct amounted to contempt of court, undermining the dignity of the judiciary and violating professional discipline expected from members of the legal profession.
The court further recorded that the lawyer allegedly behaved disrespectfully toward the presiding judge in open court. The President of the Hyderabad District Bar Association and the Joint Secretary were also informed about the matter.
The court subsequently forwarded the complaint to the Sindh Bar Council and requested appropriate legal and disciplinary action. The order reportedly referred to Section 41 of the Legal Practitioners and Bar Councils Act, 1973, as well as the professional code of conduct applicable to advocates.
Further legal or disciplinary proceedings will now fall within the jurisdiction of the Sindh Bar Council.
