Hyderabad (HRNW)- Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders & Small Industry, Senior Vice President Ahmed Idrees Chohan and Vice President Shan Sehgal participated in the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026 organized at Jinnah Convention Center Islamabad on 30th July in collaboration with United Business Group (UBG) and Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), representing the business and industrial community of Hyderabad and presented important suggestions related to the country’s economy, SME sector, exports and business reforms.
The summit was attended by Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi, Federal Minister Dr. Farooq Sattar, UBG Patron-in-Chief SM Tanveer, President FPCCI Atif Ikram Sheikh, Senior Vice President FPCCI Saqib Fayyaz Maggo, along with government representatives, industrialists, exporters, economists and officials of chambers of commerce across the country. The HCSTSI delegation met with the federal ministers, FPCCI and UBG leadership and discussed the issues faced by small traders and industrialists of Hyderabad and Sindh, the rising cost of energy, tax system, investment, industrial development and promotion of exports, and emphasized that strengthening the SME sector is essential for sustainable economic development.
Senior Vice President Ahmed Idrees Chohan said that small traders and small industries are the foundation of the country’s economy, however, they face problems such as expensive energy, complex tax system and lack of financial resources. He urged the government to strengthen the SME sector through easy loans, modern technology, improved industrial infrastructure and business-friendly policies to increase employment and exports.
Vice President Shan Sehgal said that reform of government institutions on modern lines, digital governance, research and development, artificial intelligence, modern technology and export-oriented industrial policy are indispensable for Pakistan’s economic development. He said that a transparent and easy business environment is a guarantee of increased investment and economic stability. The delegation demanded the government to introduce a simple and transparent tax system for the SME sector, bring business registration and licensing under a completely digital and one-window system, provide easy financial facilities to small traders, improve basic infrastructure in industrial areas, establish a special fund for research and development and technology up-gradation, make the system of incentives and refunds for the export sector effective, while establishing a permanent consultative system between the government, chambers of commerce and the private sector.
During the delegation’s meeting with Federal Minister Dr. Farooq Sattar, the Federal Minister appreciated the role of the Hyderabad Chamber of Small Traders and Small Industry and assured to visit the Chamber Secretariat on the occasion of his visit to Hyderabad in the near future.
At the end of the summit, the delegation said that the Hyderabad Chamber has been effectively highlighting the problems, suggestions and interests of small traders and industrialists at the national level and platforms like the Pakistan Economic Summit 2026 provide an opportunity to continue its positive role for business facilitation, investment, industrial development and economic stability through continuous communication with federal and provincial institutions.
