Lahore (HRNW) – A major operation has been launched against alleged drug smuggling networks operating for a long time in the border areas of Lahore. The action has raised concerns after allegations emerged that influential individuals and some police personnel may also be linked to the illegal trade.
According to available information, a Dolphin Force official identified as “Dilawar” was also arrested along with other suspects during the recent operation. Authorities are now investigating the alleged network and the possible role of facilitators involved in protecting or supporting drug trafficking activities.
Residents of villages located near the border areas have expressed concern over the increasing supply of narcotics, stating that the menace has severely affected the younger generation and damaged several families.
Social and community circles have demanded strict action not only against drug traffickers but also against anyone found facilitating such criminal activities, including government officials, if evidence of involvement is established.
Citizens have appealed to DIG Lahore Faisal Kamran to conduct a confidential inquiry into the officials and personnel posted in border areas to identify any possible links with drug networks.
The key demands include:
- A comprehensive investigation into possible connections between law enforcement personnel and drug trafficking groups.
- Strict departmental and legal action against individuals found involved.
- A transparent and effective strategy to eliminate drug smuggling networks.
Experts believe that eliminating drug trafficking requires action not only against smugglers but also against those who provide protection, assistance, or facilitation to such criminal networks.
