Islamabad (HRNW)- The federal government and the Government of Gilgit-Baltistan have decided to review the existing formula for the distribution of police posts between the federation and the region.
According to official sources, a proposal is under consideration to make necessary amendments to the PSP Composition Cadre and Seniority Rules, 1985, as well as the Fourth Schedule of the Gilgit-Baltistan Government Order, 2018.
For this purpose, the Career Planning Wing of the Establishment Division has been directed to conduct a comprehensive review of the current system and compare it with the mechanisms followed in other provinces.
The move follows a formal letter sent by the Inspector General of Police Gilgit-Baltistan to the Establishment Division on May 4, requesting a review of the existing formula for the allocation of police posts between the federal government and Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Establishment Division, the current distribution formula will be reassessed after the completion of the study. The Secretary of the Establishment Division has instructed the Career Planning Wing to complete the review process at the earliest.
