Punjab Approves Recruitment of 1,000 CCD Personnel, Rs491 Million Funds Allocated

Lahore (HRNW)- The Punjab government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 new officers and personnel in the Crime Control Department (CCD) to address the shortage of staff, along with the allocation of Rs491 million for the initiative.

The provincial cabinet granted formal approval for immediate hiring across various cadres to strengthen action against dangerous criminals, robbers, and organized crime across the province.

According to official documents, the CCD was established in March 2025 with an approved strength of 7,486 personnel. However, currently only 3,904 personnel are serving, leaving 3,582 positions vacant.

Authorities highlighted that CCD has played a key role in improving law and order, contributing to a 55% reduction in robbery cases and a 45% decrease in murder incidents.

The letter further stated that due to the transfer of Punjab Police personnel to the newly formed ‘Para’ department, it was not possible to meet CCD’s staffing needs through internal resources.

Following a summary sent by the IG Punjab, the cabinet approved recruitment including:

  • SPs, DSPs (General & Legal Cadres)
  • Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, ASIs
  • Head Constables, Driver Constables, and Constables

The government has also approved the release of Rs491 million in the supplementary budget for fiscal year 2025-26 to support recruitment and administrative requirements.
