INDIA (HRNW): At least 10 patients lost their lives and five others were injured after a devastating fire broke out in the Trauma Care Unit of the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Odisha.
The incident occurred early Monday morning while 23 patients were undergoing treatment in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU). According to initial reports, a short circuit is suspected to be the cause of the blaze, though a formal investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragedy.
Hospital staff and emergency responders managed to evacuate the surviving patients, who were immediately moved to other units for urgent medical care. Authorities have promised a thorough probe into the hospital’s fire safety protocols to prevent such incidents in the future.
