Federal Government to Launch 5G Spectrum Auction Tomorrow

Islamabad (HRNW)- The federal government of Pakistan has announced the start of the 5G spectrum auction in the country from tomorrow (Tuesday).

At a briefing for journalists, Federal Minister for Information Atta Tarar, Minister for IT Shaza Fatima, and PTA Chairman Major General (retd) Hafeez-ur-Rehman provided details about the upcoming auction.

Shaza Fatima stated that since 1987, Pakistan has been operating on 274 MHz, and tomorrow 600 MHz spectrum will be auctioned. The auction will be conducted through software in a fully transparent process, ensuring live monitoring for all participants.

Major General Hafeez-ur-Rehman explained that telecom companies have hired their own consultants to participate in the auction and that during mock trials, no concerns were raised about the software. He also emphasized that mobile packages will not become more expensive with the introduction of 5G, and PTA will ensure affordability, noting that the primary aim of the auction is to improve connectivity, not to generate revenue.
