COLOMBO (HRNW) – Pakistan dominated Namibia in the ICC T20 World Cup, securing a convincing 102-run victory to advance to the Super 8 stage.
Captain Salman Ali Agha won the toss and opted to bat first. Pakistan posted a challenging 200-run target for Namibia, thanks to a brilliant century by Sahibzada Farhan. Farhan scored 100 not out off 57 balls, including 4 sixes and 10 fours, while Shadab Khan contributed 36 runs. Pakistan finished 199/3 in 20 overs. Namibia’s Jack Briegel and Gerhard Erasmus picked up a couple of wickets, but their total fell far short.
Chasing 200, Namibia struggled against Pakistan’s bowling attack and were bowled out for 97 runs in the 18th over. Shadab Khan took 3 wickets for 19 runs, while Usman Tariq claimed 4 wickets for 16 runs. Only Stenekamp (23) and Alexander (20) reached double figures.
For this match, Pakistan made two changes to the playing XI, replacing Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed with Mirza Salman and Khawaja Nafees.
With this win, Pakistan and India have both secured their spots in the Super 8 stage from Group A.
