MDCAT Answer Keys Challenged in Sindh High Court, Petition Seeks Release of Question Paper

Karachi (HRNW)- A petition challenging the allegedly controversial MDCAT answer keys has been filed in the Sindh High Court, with the petition naming six respondents, including the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC), Sukkur IBA University, and Jinnah Sindh Medical University.

The petition seeks directions for the immediate publication of the MDCAT question paper and answer keys on the relevant websites and calls for the documents to be uploaded within three days.

The petitioner argues that candidates cannot effectively challenge disputed answers without access to the original question paper. It therefore requests that the question paper be made available to all MDCAT candidates before the admission process proceeds further.

According to Advocate Muhammad Nawaz Dahri, the MDCAT examination was held on September 20, and candidates were provided only with carbon copies of their answer sheets. He said students were not allowed to take the question paper with them after the examination.

The lawyer contended that even a difference of a few marks could significantly affect a candidate’s merit position and chances of securing admission to medical colleges, making transparency in the examination process particularly important.

The petition also seeks a stay on the finalization of the MDCAT merit list and admissions, arguing that the disputed answer keys should be reviewed and the question paper made public before the final merit list is prepared.

The legal challenge is aimed at ensuring greater transparency in the MDCAT evaluation process and protecting candidates’ ability to raise objections before medical college admissions are finalized.
