World leaders are gathering at the United Nations in New York for the 81st General Assembly High-Level Week, with wars, climate change, artificial intelligence, inequality and global economic pressures among the major issues facing governments.
The UN’s high-level programme runs from 18 to 28 September, with the General Debate scheduled for 22–28 September. The UN says the session is intended to strengthen international cooperation and advance action on peace, sustainable development and global challenges.
The programme also includes high-level meetings on climate action, sea-level rise, pandemic preparedness, the right to development and other international issues.
