Islamabad (HRNW)- Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry has said it will become clear on September 27 how the state establishes its writ as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) prepares for a proposed march toward Islamabad.
Speaking on a private television programme, Chaudhry said the government and state authorities have the legal authority to take necessary measures to maintain law and order during the planned march. He added that the government does not want to be forced to adopt strict measures against the PTI.
The minister also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, alleging that the provincial chief minister avoids attending the Prime Minister’s quarterly meetings on counterterrorism but approaches the federal government when seeking an increased share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award or additional funds.
Chaudhry claimed that the PTI-led provincial government had received Rs700 billion under the NFC arrangement and said it was responsible for providing an account of the funds and ensuring their proper utilization.
He urged the KP government to focus on the use of available financial resources and provincial performance rather than political sit-ins, protests, and preparations for marches.
His remarks come as PTI prepares for its proposed September 27 mobilization in Islamabad, with the government emphasizing the maintenance of law and order and state authority during the event.
