Rawalpindi (HRNW)- Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said Pakistan’s key demand from Afghanistan is that its territory not be used for attacks against Pakistan. In an interview with Arab News, he said Islamabad reserves the right to act in self-defense if Afghanistan does not address its security concerns.
Chaudhry said Pakistan’s dispute is with the Taliban authorities rather than the Afghan people and called on the Afghan government to prevent militant groups from operating, receiving weapons, or maintaining logistical networks on Afghan soil.
He said the Afghan Taliban should honor commitments under the 2020 Doha Agreement, particularly regarding the prevention of terrorist activity from Afghan territory. He also ruled out negotiations with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), saying Pakistan’s position is that it will not negotiate with terrorists.
Regarding Balochistan, the DG ISPR alleged that militant groups lack public support and accused India of sponsoring terrorism and supporting overseas social media campaigns. These are allegations made by Pakistani authorities and were not independently established in the interview.
On Saudi Arabia, Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said Pakistan stands with the Kingdom both diplomatically and physically and is prepared to go “to any extent” required for its security and the protection of Islam’s holy sites in Makkah and Madinah.
He said Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s security is unconditional and that Pakistan’s political and military leadership remains in continuous communication with the Saudi leadership. He also said Islamabad is consulting regional governments in an effort to pursue a negotiated and peaceful resolution to the wider regional crisis.
Chaudhry further noted that Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts had contributed to the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which he described as a framework for addressing the broader regional conflict. He said Islamabad continues to explore possibilities for restoring dialogue between Washington and Tehran despite existing mistrust and disagreements.
