Karachi (HRNW) – The Sindh High Court has granted bail to two suspects arrested in a case involving the alleged smuggling of foreign-brand cigarettes.
In its written order, the court approved the bail applications of both accused and directed them to submit surety bonds of Rs. 100,000 each.
The court observed that, according to the case record, the accused were not among those involved in smuggling foreign cigarettes into the country.
During the hearing, the prosecutor argued that the suspects were allegedly transporting smuggled cigarettes from Quetta to Karachi and were travelling in a van.
The prosecutor informed the court that one of the accused was driving the vehicle while wearing a security uniform. According to the prosecution, when questioned, the suspects claimed they were transporting bank cash.
However, during a search, two cartons of foreign-brand cigarettes were allegedly recovered from the vehicle, the prosecutor stated.
The prosecution further informed the court that the cartons contained more than 4,000 cigarette packets.
According to the case details, the suspects were arrested by the Anti-Smuggling Force on 13 April 2026, and a case was registered against them.
