Islamabad (HRNW)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that violence and all forms of inhuman or degrading treatment are unacceptable in any civilized society and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to protecting human dignity and fundamental human rights.
In his message on the International Day in Support of Victims of Violence, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with victims of violence around the world and reiterated the country’s resolve to work with the international community to eliminate all forms of violence and uphold justice and human rights.
He said the day serves as a reminder of the importance of human dignity and emphasized that torture, cruel treatment and other forms of abuse are serious violations of human rights, international law and Islamic teachings.
Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan remains committed to strengthening measures for the prevention of violence and the protection of all individuals, guided by Islamic values and the country’s international obligations. He stressed that victims of violence deserve comprehensive medical, psychological, legal and social support, while those responsible for such crimes must be held accountable through effective implementation of laws and institutional reforms.
The Prime Minister also expressed concern over what he described as the use of violence by foreign occupying forces, referring to the situations in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He urged the international community, the United Nations, and global human rights organizations to ensure accountability for human rights violations and strengthen international cooperation to protect victims of violence.
Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Pakistan’s political, diplomatic and moral support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while emphasizing their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
