Jerusalem (HRNW)- Israeli media have claimed that the United States is seriously considering the possibility of permanently stationing military forces inside Israel, a move that could signal a major shift in Washington’s long-term military presence in the Middle East.
According to media reports, the proposed development reflects a significant change in the future structure of US operations in the region. The Israeli newspaper Yisrael Hayom quoted a senior security source as saying that US forces currently stationed in Israel are expected to remain in place.
The sources said that ongoing discussions between Washington and Tel Aviv are focused on multiple scenarios aimed at strengthening the US military footprint. They emphasized that the plans go beyond temporary deployments or joint military exercises.
Reports suggest that proposals under consideration include the deployment of advanced US air defense systems, as well as the permanent stationing of fighter jet squadrons. Additional discussions reportedly cover logistical and operational military components.
The sources further indicated that there is growing expectation that a future US military base in the region could be established inside Israel.
