Assassination Attempt on Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza; One Attacker Killed in Police Counter-Fire

JHELUM (HRNW)- A targeted assassination attempt was made on prominent religious scholar Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza at his academy in Jhelum today, Sunday, April 19. While the scholar remained unharmed, a police officer was injured, and one of the two assailants was shot dead during a retaliatory exchange of fire.

Details of the Incident:

According to sources, the attack occurred at approximately 10:45 AM. Two armed men opened fire on the Jhelum Academy. One assailant reportedly took a position on the green belt across the road, firing directly at the academy’s main entrance and the police personnel stationed there.

Police Response and Casualties:

  • Gallant Counter-Action: The police security detail responded immediately to the gunfire, successfully neutralizing the threat and thwarting a larger tragedy.

  • Attacker Killed: One assailant was killed on the spot during the exchange of fire with the police.

  • Officer Injured: A brave police constable sustained gunshot wounds while defending the academy. He was immediately shifted to a local hospital for medical treatment.

Current Situation:

Bullet marks were visible on the academy’s gate, testifying to the intensity of the assault. Fortunately, Engineer Muhammad Ali Mirza is reported to be safe and in good spirits.
