Islamabad (HRNW): Amid rising oil prices in the international market, reports have emerged that the government is considering a “Smart Petroleum Lockdown” to reduce fuel consumption and manage energy costs across Pakistan.
According to sources, government and private offices, schools, colleges and universities would operate for only four days a week, while the remaining three days would be observed as holidays under the proposed arrangement.
Sources said the reported measure is aimed at reducing fuel consumption, limiting demand for petroleum products and lowering energy-related expenditures in response to the continued increase in global oil prices.
However, no official notification or formal announcement has so far been issued confirming the implementation of the reported “Smart Petroleum Lockdown.” Details regarding the working days, holidays, duration and applicability to educational and other institutions also remain unclear.
