Federal Health Minister Expresses Resentment Over Ineffective Vaccine Awareness Campaign Despite Millions in Funding

ISLAMABAD (HRNW)- Federal Minister for Health, Mustafa Kamal, chaired a high-level meeting on April 14, 2026, to conduct a detailed review of the ongoing vaccine awareness campaign. The meeting was attended by the Secretary of Health, Director General (DG) Health, and DG of the Federal Directorate of Immunization (FDI).

Concerns Over Funding and Results

During the session, the Health Minister expressed serious resentment over the failure to achieve desired results despite the expenditure of millions of dollars provided by UNICEF. He noted with concern that negative public perceptions and hesitancy regarding vaccinations persist, even though the primary objective of the campaign was to eliminate such trends.

Call for Accountability and Strategy

Minister Mustafa Kamal emphasized the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and a more robust strategy. He stated that ensuring the correct and effective use of funds is a fundamental responsibility of the state. He further directed the relevant authorities to:

  • Implement practical measures to restore public confidence in the healthcare system.

  • Develop innovative communication strategies to promote positive attitudes toward immunization.

  • Ensure rigorous monitoring of all federally funded health initiatives.

The Minister concluded by stressing that the success of health campaigns should be measured by their impact on the ground rather than just the volume of resources spent.
