Karachi (HRNW) — Police in Karachi have arrested six security guards allegedly found waving weapons while travelling in a Vigo vehicle and wearing police-style uniforms, following directives from Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar.
According to police, the action was taken on the orders of the Sindh Home Minister against the security guards allegedly using uniforms resembling those of police personnel and displaying weapons.
Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar said no one is permitted to employ security guards wearing police-style uniforms, describing such practices as illegal.
He said members of the public cannot be misled through the use of police-like uniforms and weapons, adding that legal action is being taken against security guards involved in such practices.
The arrested individuals have been handed over for further legal proceedings, according to police.
