Chaudhry Sugar Mills Case: Court Formally Closes Investigation Against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz

ISLAMABAD (HRNW): An accountability court in Islamabad has formally approved the closure of the investigation against Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in the long-standing Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. Judge Rana Arif issued the final verdict after accepting the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request to terminate the inquiry.

During the proceedings, NAB Prosecutor Intikhab argued that no concrete evidence of corruption or financial irregularity was found against the two leaders. He stated that after a thorough review of the records, the bureau concluded that further investigation was unnecessary and lacked legal merit.

With the court’s formal approval to shut down the probe, all legal proceedings against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz in this specific case have reached a conclusive end. This decision marks a significant legal victory for the PML-N leadership, clearing them of allegations regarding the mill’s shareholding and money laundering within this reference.
