Manila (HRNW)- At least five people have died and 87 remain missing after a fire broke out aboard a passenger ferry near the Philippines’ Palawan province.
According to media reports, the ferry was traveling from Manila to Coron with 134 people on board, including 117 passengers and 17 crew members.
So far, 42 people have been rescued, while the cause of the fire remains unknown. Rescue operations are underway as authorities continue efforts to locate those still missing.
Relief and rescue operations are facing difficulties due to adverse weather conditions and rough seas in the area.
