Gas Explosion in Soldier Bazaar Building Kills 13, Rescue Operations Ongoing

Karachi (HRNW) — At least 13 people have died following a gas explosion in a building in Soldier Bazaar. According to police, the explosion occurred around 4:00 a.m., causing part of the three-story structure to collapse. Authorities immediately cordoned off the area and initiated a rescue operation.

Rescue officials stated that each floor of the building contained a single room, and narrow lanes in the area have posed challenges to the operation.

So far, 13 bodies have been recovered, including 4 children and 3 women, while more than 10 others are injured and have been transported to hospitals for medical treatment.

DG Rescue 1122 Brigadier Wajid told a private TV channel that the explosion originated on the building’s first floor and was caused either by a gas cylinder or a gas-extracting machine.

He added that there may be more people trapped under the debris, and rescue teams continue to work using specialized equipment to cut through metal and remove rubble from the collapsed sections.
