Akhtar Mengal’s Resignation from National Assembly Accepted After 17 Months

Islamabad, Pakistan (HRNW)- The resignation of Sardar Akhtar Mengal, chief of the Balochistan National Party (BNP), from the National Assembly has been formally accepted nearly 17 months after it was submitted.

According to sources, National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq approved Mengal’s resignation last night. The resignation has been accepted with effect from the original date it was tendered.

Akhtar Mengal had submitted his resignation on September 3, 2024. Despite the lengthy delay, the acceptance has now been finalized retrospectively from the same date.

Mengal was elected as a Member of the National Assembly (MNA) from constituency NA-256 Khuzdar. His resignation and the delay in its acceptance had remained a subject of political discussion within parliamentary and provincial circles.
