Lahore (HRNW)- Captain (retd.) Muhammad Safdar, husband of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has shared personal details about their married life, saying that Maryam usually takes the initiative to reconcile when the couple have minor disagreements.
Speaking in a recent interview with journalist Azaz Syed on the digital programme Talk SHOCK, Safdar said their relationship was based on mutual respect, dignity and courtesy rather than authority or command. He said they have been married for 35 years and have three children and grandchildren.
Safdar said disagreements between them were generally minor and that Maryam was usually the first to make an effort to resolve them. He also shared a light-hearted detail about their household, saying that family members sometimes hide sweets from him because of concerns about his diet.
He also explained why he has not joined the Punjab cabinet. According to Safdar, he preferred to stay out of the cabinet because members are expected to stand when the chief minister enters a room, adding humorously that he did not see himself in that situation while his wife holds the office of chief minister.
Safdar’s comments focused largely on personal aspects of his relationship with Maryam Nawaz, offering a lighter account of their family life alongside their public and political roles.
