Quetta (HRNW)- The engine of the Jinnah Peoples Train derailed during shunting operations at Kuchlak Railway Yard in Quetta, according to railway officials.
Officials said engine No. 5120 went off the tracks on line No. 3. A replacement engine, No. 5126, was subsequently provided to allow the train service to continue.
The Jinnah Peoples Train departed Kuchlak at 10:15 a.m. and reached Sariab at 11:30 a.m., following the replacement of the derailed engine.
Railway officials said the suspected initial cause of the derailment was the theft of a fishplate, although an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident and establish further details.
Officials confirmed that the Jinnah Peoples Train service is operating normally despite the incident.
