Kyiv (HRNW)- Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has claimed that NATO has “overwhelming superiority” in air power and could defeat Russia “quite quickly” if Moscow launched an attack against the alliance.
Speaking at the annual Yalta European Strategy meeting in Kyiv, Sikorski said NATO possesses significant air capabilities and suggested that Europe could potentially destroy Russia’s remaining oil-refining capacity within weeks.
Sikorski said that if Russia attacked NATO and the alliance responded with its full capabilities, Russia could be defeated rapidly. He cited what he described as overwhelming NATO air superiority, estimating the alliance has around 2,500 aircraft.
The Polish foreign minister also argued that NATO remains a powerful military alliance even without the United States, pointing to the number of F-35 fighter aircraft and JASSM missiles available to member states.
He said the alliance has the capacity to launch a large-scale military strike if required, while emphasizing NATO’s substantial conventional military capabilities.
The remarks come amid continuing tensions between Russia and NATO and heightened concerns over European security and military preparedness.
