Washington (HRNW)- US President Donald Trump has said the ongoing conflict with Iran could end this year, potentially shortly after the November midterm elections, while indicating that Tehran remains interested in reaching a deal.
Trump said Iran is in constant communication and appears interested in negotiations, but stressed that the United States would not accept any agreement that does not serve American interests. He said any potential deal would have to provide favorable terms for the United States.
The US president also said he had no objection to Gulf countries meeting or communicating with Iran, arguing that such decisions were for those nations to make independently.
Trump further predicted that gasoline prices in the United States would fall sharply once the conflict with Iran comes to an end.
However, the global energy market remains under pressure as the broader regional crisis continues, with tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz contributing to concerns over oil supplies and international energy prices.
