Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that discussions about dividing the country or provinces are contrary to the principles of unity, organization and firm faith, stressing that important decisions should be made through mutual consultation.
Speaking to the media at Mazar-e-Quaid, Murad Ali Shah said that everyone has the right to express an opinion and cannot be stopped from speaking, but questioned why “everyone has suddenly become a constitutional expert.”
He said a new term, “administrative unit,” has emerged in the ongoing debate, while business forums are holding lengthy discussions and broadcasting them on television. However, he emphasized that the views expressed through elected assemblies ultimately carry importance.
The chief minister questioned how a provincial assembly could reject legislation passed by the National Assembly, saying that a clear majority of more than two-thirds in the Sindh Assembly has already rejected any proposal to divide the province.
Murad Ali Shah added that if people in other provinces want their provinces to be divided, the decision should be made by the respective provincial assemblies.
