Islamabad (HRNW)- The government’s policy of determining petroleum prices on a daily basis has placed a significant burden on the public, with petrol and diesel prices increasing by up to Rs25 per liter in just ten days.
According to official documents, the price of petrol increased by Rs24.96 per liter between September 1 and September 10, rising from Rs342.79 to Rs367.75 per liter. During the same period, the price of diesel climbed by Rs22.26 per liter, from Rs370.41 to Rs392.67 per liter.
Petrol prices increased on several occasions during the period, including hikes of Rs1.08 on September 2, Rs2.29 on September 3 and Rs2.84 on September 4. Although the price was reduced by Rs3.13 between September 5 and 7, the upward trend resumed, with increases of Rs12.90 on September 8, Rs5.58 on September 9 and Rs3.40 on September 10.
Diesel prices continued to rise throughout the period. The price increased by 51 paisa on September 2, Rs1.11 on September 3, Rs2.28 on September 4 and Rs3.72 for September 5 to 7. Further increases of Rs3.72, Rs4.18 and Rs6.72 were recorded on September 8, 9 and 10, respectively, taking the diesel price to Rs392.67 per liter.
The successive increases have intensified concerns over the impact of rising fuel prices on household budgets, transportation costs and overall inflation.
