Peshawar (HRNW)- The Peshawar High Court (PHC) has granted transit bail to Noreen Niazi, sister of PTI founder Imran Khan, in a case registered against her in Islamabad.
The protective and transit bail application was heard by Justice Arshad Ali at the Peshawar High Court.
During the hearing, Noreen Niazi’s lawyer told the court that the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) had registered a case against his client in Islamabad.
Speaking before the court, Noreen Niazi said she learned after arriving in Peshawar that a cybercrime case had been registered against her. She denied making any statements against the state in the media and said she had no intention of doing so.
She further argued that she was not even present in the province at the time of the alleged incident and questioned how she could have interfered in matters there.
Noreen Niazi said she had never spoken against the state and maintained that everyone has the right to hold their own views. She said discussions had taken place both at her residence and outside, after which a case was registered.
She also claimed that multiple cases were being registered against members of her family without clear explanations regarding how or why they were filed, adding that cases had previously been registered against her sisters as well.
Noreen Niazi further said she did not understand how she could be accused of interfering in politics and maintained that the cases against her were unjustified.
After hearing the arguments, the Peshawar High Court granted Noreen Niazi transit bail.
