Dera Ghazi Khan (HRNW): A suspected criminal was killed and a Crime Control Department (CCD) officer was seriously injured during an alleged police encounter in Dera Ghazi Khan, according to the spokesperson for the Punjab Crime Control Department.
The CCD stated that its Dera Ghazi Khan team conducted a raid based on intelligence information to arrest Akbar Khoso, who was wanted in connection with alleged extortion and other criminal activities.
According to the department, Akbar Khoso and other alleged members of his gang opened indiscriminate fire upon seeing the CCD team, leading to an exchange of gunfire.
During the incident, CCD officer Shahzad Ahmed Qureshi sustained serious injuries and was immediately shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
The CCD said that Akbar Khoso was killed during the alleged encounter, while the remaining suspected gang members escaped from the scene. Special CCD teams have been formed to locate and arrest the fleeing suspects.
According to the department, the Punjab CCD remains committed to combating organized crime, extortion, and other serious criminal activities across the province.
