According to reports, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced several initiatives during the rally, including a Green Bus Service, scholarships for students, distribution of laptops among youth, interest-free/easy loan schemes for young people, the “Apna Ghar” housing scheme, and the “Clean Muzaffarabad” programme.
Critics have alleged that these announcements violate Clause 41 of the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s code of conduct, which reportedly restricts candidates or political parties from announcing development schemes after the election schedule has been issued if such announcements could influence voters.
Those raising objections argue that announcing new development projects during the election period may affect the electoral environment and could amount to a breach of election rules.
However, the Election Commission of Azad Jammu and Kashmir or relevant authorities have not yet issued any final decision or announced formal action regarding the matter. Any violation, if established, would be determined through the applicable legal process and review by the competent authorities.
