Tel Aviv (HRNW)- Israeli Army Chief Eyal Zamir has issued a rare and alarming warning that the Israeli military could face internal collapse if immediate action is not taken. He highlighted 10 “red flags,” noting that reservists are losing their combat readiness, which is undermining the army’s operational capacity.
Zamir stressed that unless laws concerning reservists are amended and other necessary measures are implemented, the internal structure of the army could suffer severe damage, posing a serious threat to national security. Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett echoed these concerns, citing a shortage of approximately 20,000 soldiers and criticizing the government for launching the war without adequate strategy, resources, or manpower.
Opposition leader Yair Lapid described the warning as unprecedented in his 13 years on the security cabinet. Experts say these statements reflect mounting pressure within Israel’s military and political leadership amid the ongoing conflict.
