SHC: Hearing on Illegal Flats in 231-A Block 2, PECHS: Court Orders SBCA Action

Karachi (HRNW) — Today, the Sindh High Court heard constitutional petition No. 585/2026 filed by a local resident against the construction of multiple flats in Plot 231-A, Block 2, Ferozabad, PECHS Society. The petition challenges the replacement of a B+G+1 bungalow plan on a 1,200-square-yard plot with eight flats per floor, totaling 24 flats across three floors.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Nadeem Ahmed Jamal, argued that constructing dozens of flats on the bungalow’s original plan violates building regulations, and despite repeated applications, the Sindh Building Control Authority has failed to take any action.

The court directed SBCA to respond and instructed the petitioner to provide a copy of the petition to them. SBCA was ordered to address all ongoing construction violations highlighted in the complaint within two weeks and submit a report.

SBCA later provided a copy of the petition to the petitioner’s lawyer. Notably, the counsel of builder appeared in court without prior notice, which drew the court’s ire. Justice Abdul Mubeen Lakho denied the builder’s lawyer permission to speak, stating that appearing without notice is unacceptable.
