BNP and Allies Secure Landslide Victory in Bangladesh General Elections

Dhaka (HRNW) – The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its allied parties have achieved a historic victory in the 13th parliamentary elections of Bangladesh. According to media reports, the BNP-led alliance secured 213 out of 299 seats, while Jamaat-e-Islami emerged as the second-largest force with 76 seats. In his victory statement, Tarique Rahman expressed his commitment to inclusive governance, stating that he intends to work with all political parties to run the country. He emphasized that maintaining law and order remains his top priority to ensure public safety. Acknowledging that women constitute half of the nation’s population, he pledged special focus on their empowerment and welfare. Furthermore, he appealed to party supporters to avoid celebratory rallies and instead participate in special prayers during Friday congregations. Meanwhile, Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus lauded the process, noting that the citizens had fully exercised their constitutional right to vote.
