Vietnam (HRNW)- Floods and landslides triggered by heavy rains have claimed the lives of 55 people in central Vietnam, with 13 others reported missing, according to the country’s disaster agency.
Over the past week, parts of central Vietnam, including Dak Lak and Khanh Hoa provinces, have received more than 1,900 millimeters (74.8 inches) of rain. Nearly half of the fatalities occurred in Dak Lak, where 27 people have died, while 14 deaths were reported in Khanh Hoa.

The floods and landslides have caused significant economic losses, amounting to approximately 8.98 trillion dong ($445 million), damaging over 235,000 homes and about 80,000 acres of crops. The affected region is a major coffee-growing belt and home to popular beaches.
