Tehran (HRNW)- The death toll from the current wave of protests in Iran has surged to at least 646 people, according to the Human Rights Activists News Agency (HRANA). For over 100 hours, the Iranian government has enforced a near-total internet blackout to mask the scale of the crackdown. While some phone lines were briefly restored today, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights warned that the labeling of protesters as “terrorists” is being used to justify lethal force.
