Countries participating in the United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice have adopted a new global blueprint for responding to rapidly evolving crime in the digital age.
The Abu Dhabi Declaration was adopted by acclamation as the UN’s largest international gathering on crime prevention and criminal justice opened in Abu Dhabi. Governments are discussing stronger international cooperation as criminal activities increasingly cross borders and use digital technologies.
The five-yearly congress is examining crime prevention, criminal justice, the rule of law and ways to protect people and the planet while advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. The meeting runs from 25 to 29 September 2026.
