Islamabad (HRNW) — Security arrangements for the PTI long march in Islamabad are estimated to involve expenditure running into hundreds of millions of rupees.
According to the available estimates, 1,550 containers have been deployed in the capital for security purposes. Their reported daily rental cost is Rs46.5 million, while the estimated cost would reach Rs325.5 million for one week and Rs651 million for two weeks.
The food expenses for Punjab Police personnel are estimated at around Rs9.6 million per day, amounting to Rs67.2 million for one week. Meanwhile, food expenses for Sindh Police personnel are estimated at Rs16.8 million over two weeks.
For the security arrangements, 70 coasters and 30 double-cabin vehicles have also reportedly been hired. The daily rental cost of the 70 coasters is estimated at Rs1.05 million, while the 30 double-cabin vehicles cost around Rs300,000 per day.
The estimates indicate that the overall public expenditure could increase further if the security arrangements remain in place for a longer period.
