Islamabad (HRNW) — Pakistan Navy’s newly inducted submarine PNS/M Hangor has successfully completed its first live weapon firing in the northern Arabian Sea.
According to a Pakistan Navy spokesperson, the submarine successfully engaged the designated target with a long-range anti-ship cruise missile during the exercise.
The spokesperson said the live weapon firing was conducted to test and validate the submarine’s weapons systems, combat readiness and operational capabilities. PNS/M Hangor successfully met the objectives of the firing exercise.
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf witnessed the live weapon firing at sea. He commended the submarine’s combat capabilities and emphasised the importance of continuously enhancing underwater warfare capabilities to maintain operational readiness and a credible defence capability at sea.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the successful live weapon firing marks an important milestone in PNS/M Hangor’s operational readiness and reflects the continued enhancement of Pakistan’s underwater warfare capabilities.
The Pakistan Navy said the successful firing reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a modern, technologically capable and fully prepared maritime force for the defence of Pakistan’s maritime frontiers and the preservation of peace and stability in the region.
