Islamabad (HRNW) — The Pakistan Navy has conducted a major counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea, seizing more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics, reportedly valued at approximately US$750 million on the international market.
According to the Pakistan Navy, the operation was carried out by PNS Hunain and PNS Yarmook as part of maritime security operations. During the operation, a suspicious fishing vessel was intercepted and searched, resulting in the recovery of a large quantity of narcotics.
The Pakistan Navy said Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf commended the officers and crew of both vessels for their professional performance during the successful operation.
The Navy said it remains fully prepared to prevent illegal activities at sea and is playing an active role in safeguarding Pakistan’s maritime interests as well as contributing to international maritime security.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Commends Pakistan Navy
Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif praised the Pakistan Navy following the seizure of more than 2,800 kilograms of narcotics in the Arabian Sea operation and congratulated the officers and personnel involved.
The Prime Minister appreciated the professionalism, vigilance and surveillance capabilities demonstrated by the naval personnel, describing the Navy’s efforts against drug trafficking as commendable.
He said the Pakistan Navy has an important role in protecting Pakistan’s maritime boundaries and preventing illegal trafficking through sea routes.
Mohsin Naqvi Also Praises Naval Operation
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also commended the Pakistan Navy for the successful counter-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea.
He praised the professional expertise and vigilance of the naval officers and personnel involved in the operation and congratulated the entire team on the seizure.
Naqvi described the Pakistan Navy’s efforts to combat drug trafficking as commendable.
