Islamabad (HRNW) — Major changes have reportedly been made in the senior command and staff structure of the Pakistan Army, with several major generals assigned new responsibilities in intelligence, field formations, headquarters and other key positions.
According to reports, Major General Adil Iftikhar Warraich has been appointed the new Director General Military Intelligence (DGMI), replacing Major General Wajid Aziz.
The reported reshuffle includes changes at General Headquarters and various field commands. Major General Sajid Mahmood has reportedly been appointed DG-Z, Major General Muhammad Shumryaz Khan as DG-S, and Major General Jawad Riaz as DG-P.
Major General Khurram Shabbir has reportedly been assigned command of the 17 Division, Major General Zill-e-Hussain the 15 Division, while Major General Waqas Qureshi has been assigned command of the 14 Division.
Reports further state that Major General Zafar Iqbal has been appointed IG FC Balochistan South, Major General Ahmad Farhan IG FC Balochistan West, and Major General Atif Rafiq Director General Pakistan Coast Guards. Major General Hasan Mehdi has reportedly been appointed Chief of Staff, Central Command.
